Additional comments From Granville Sharp's Thompson collection. This e-book is a scan of a copy from the British Library, collection of Johannis Bumpus, later owned by A. H. Mann. Contains some interesting notes by Bumpus and Mann and further a discussion about the origin of Flintoft's chant.
A description of this collection is given in Ruth Wilson's "Anglican Chant and Chanting in England, Scotland and America 1660-1820" (pp.88-89).
Unusual notation (probably common at the time): in 4/4 time, first (and 3rd) quarter (in beats) 4|2-2|2, second (and 4th) quarter 2|1-1-1-1 |4. In the index this is transformed into today's usual 4|2-2|4 || 4|2-2|2-2|4 notation.
